Pastor Douglas P. Jones, Senior Pastor of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is married to First Lady JoAnn Jones and are the parents of three daughters. They are also the proud grandparents of one grandson.

Pastor Jones has been a minister of the gospel for many years and has served as Pastor of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church since 1989. We thank God for the 23 years Pastor Jones has been at Welcome and pray that he will continue to lead Welcome’s members into the future.

Pastor Jones is very active in the Pontiac and surrounding communities, acting as a consensus builder among groups and people of differing perspectives.  Pastor Jones currently serves on several boards throughout the Pontiac and Oakland County community. He has also been recognized by different organizations with awards for his energy and dedication to the community.

During Pastor Jones’ tenure at Welcome, he has grown the membership from a few hundred to over 4,000, established a scholarship fund and provided support for missions and missionaries in Australia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Brazil.

He has established a level of fiscal discipline that allowed the church to pay off the first mortgage within 3 years of taking the pastoral reins at Welcome.  After leading an expansion and complete rebuilding of Welcome’s facility, Pastor established a program to pay off that new mortgage by the year 2015.

Pastor has shown himself to be very dedicated to the needs of the church’s younger members and has established ministries to address their specific needs and concerns with developing a stronger relationship with Christ.  He has created mentoring ministries like Young Men Making A Difference for pre-teen and teenage boys, the Teen Esteem Ministry for pre-teen and teenage girls and a Domestic Violence Ministry for those in the community who have felt the pain of domestic violence on their families.
